Learning new things

Today, an adult violin student came rushing in today complaining about a broken string. She was scared that she couldn’t play for her lesson today. But, I reassured her that it will be okay and that her teacher will sort it out for her. As we waited for her teacher, we decided to prepare the strings to avoid getting into lesson time. She said it was a D string, but she needed some clarification. She was pretty definite about it and when her teacher came out she was right. As her teacher set up her violin she watched intently and she questioned how her husband tried fixing it but it didn’t work. She further stated that he was quite familiar with tuning a banjo. But, her teacher explained how the formation of the hooks of the violin are different. Her teacher then let her have an attempt at doing one side while guiding through it. When she finished her teacher said she did a really good job and she smiled proud with what she accomplished.
