I’m sure each and everyone one of you have heard of the LEGENDARY hot-dogs and pies from Harry’s! and now much to everyone’s excitment (And convenience) they have parked their caravan store in Parramatta! Most of us would normally need to make a 40 minute drive up to Woolloomooloo to get a bite, but now they’ve opened one little closer to home.
Regardless of the impossibly long lines, savouring the deliciousness that is Harry’s.. is totally worth it! the flakiness of the crust, the slightly spiced meaty sauce, the heavenly hearty chunks of beef, the whipped mashed potatoes and delicious pond of gravy, truly what dreams are made. Gosh it’s making me hungry just writing about it!
Did you know Harry’s has served up the likes of Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum, Marelene Dietrich, Kerry Packer and more recently, Sir Richard Branson, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Brook Shields, Pat Rafter, Olivia Newton-John, Jerry Lewis, Billy Crystal, Pamela Anderson, Sara O’Hare, Lachlan Murdoch, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Adrian Greiner, Anthony Bourdain and Peter Blakely.
In 1974, chicken king, Colonel Sanders, stopped at Harry’s and enjoyed the food so much that he ate three ‘pies and peas’ while leaning on his walking stick in front of the caravan.
Well Harry’s is all about location, history and of course pie’s with mash spuds, mashed peas and gravy its bucket list experience for Australian’s so take a trip down to 431 Church Street Parramatta, and taste it for yourself:)
